Spice Guru

Tucked away on Church Street in the heart of Reigate, Spice Guru is the kind of restaurant that doesn’t need flashing signs or gimmicks to turn heads-it’s the irresistible aroma of sizzling spices that does the work. This place has carved out a name for itself with a bold approach to modern Indian cuisine, and once you’ve had a taste, it’s easy to understand why it’s such a favourite among locals looking for a flavorful dinner or a comforting solo meal.

Let’s start with the Malai Lamb Chops-a dish that pretty much speaks for the kitchen’s attention to marination and balance. Each chop arrives tender, juicy, and delicately spiced, without drowning in sauces. It's a crowd-puller, and for good reason. Then there's the Salmon Tikka, a lesser-seen gem that combines smoky tandoor notes with the richness of fresh fish. It’s a must-try for anyone who loves seafood with a little attitude.

But if you’re a stickler for classics, the Tandoori Chicken won’t disappoint. It’s the kind of dish where you can tell-from the charred edges to the bold depth of flavour-that it hasn’t been rushed. The tandoor magic also extends to their selection of naan and starters, which pair wonderfully with the more robust curries.

Speaking of which, Bombay Aloo makes a perfect vegetarian addition to the table. It’s comforting, warmly spiced, and doesn’t fall into the trap of being overly oily. This dish especially stands out for guests seeking halal food options or vegetarian selections that still feel hearty and indulgent.

Service-wise, Spice Guru keeps things flexible. Whether you’re ordering a quick takeaway, opting for no-contact delivery, or settling in for a dine-in experience, the team runs a tight ship. Despite the absence of wheelchair accessibility, the interior layout offers a cosy, intimate setting that suits a relaxed evening out-think low lighting, welcoming staff, and a menu that encourages exploring new combinations every visit.

One of the lesser-appreciated highlights here is the drinks list. There’s alcohol, spirits, wine, and a selection of beer to complement whatever heat level you’re craving. Whether it's a cold pint alongside something spicy or a glass of red to balance a creamier curry, the pairings work. Plus, with coffee and free water refills available, the staff ensure you’re well cared for, even between courses.

Another point worth noting is how late-night food is part of the experience. It’s not unusual to see diners popping in after regular hours, drawn by the promise of hot, freshly prepared dishes long after other kitchens have closed. This adds a layer of convenience, especially if you're winding down a night out or simply craving a proper meal without resorting to fast food.

For those who prefer a well-rounded evening, the dessert menu brings a sweet touch to an otherwise spice-packed journey. Expect traditional Indian favourites alongside house specialties-though many regulars will tell you the mains are so satisfying that dessert is often a bonus, not a necessity.

So if you’re after a spot that delivers bold, unfussy Indian food with reliable consistency, Spice Guru has that formula down to an art. It's not the flashiest place in Reigate, but for people who care more about what’s on the plate than what's on the walls, it hits the mark every time.

Best curry house by a country mile- staff are always so friendly and the atmosphere is great in the restaurant. Their takeaways are great too, so flavourful and you can tell they actually care about the quality of their food. Wouldn’t ever risk going elsewhere!
